辟支佛
(辟支迦) (辟支佛陀) (辟支迦佛陀)pratyekabuddha, one who seeks enlightenment for himself, defined in theLotus Sūtraas a believer who is diligent and zealous in seeking wisdom, loves loneliness and seclusion, and understands deeply thenidānas. Also called 緣覺; 獨覺; 俱存. It is a stage above theśrāvaka聲聞 and is known as the 中乘 middle vehicle. Tiantai distinguishes 獨覺 as an ascetic in a period without a Buddha, 緣覺 as apratyekabuddha. He attains his enlightenment alone, independently of a teacher, and with the object of attainingnirvāṇaand his own salvation rather than that of others, as is the object of abodhisattva. 寶輻辟支佛
【佛名】胎藏界釋迦院上行南端第七位之尊。密號曰圓寂金剛。四緣覺之一。白黃色，比丘形，右手掌向外，垂指當胸，左手執袈裟二角，置臍下，坐於赤蓮。

【術語】三乘中之中乘也。謂開辟支佛覺悟之因行。法華經譬喻品曰：「若有眾生，從佛世尊聞法信受，慇懃精進，求自然慧，樂獨善寂，深知諸法因緣，是名辟支佛乘。」（從佛世尊聞法信受者，最初之發心，必依佛與聲聞乘同，求自然慧樂獨善寂者，示獨覺之義，深知諸法因緣者，示緣覺之義，辟支佛具此二義）。

【故事】智度論八曰：「佛入婆羅門城乞食，婆羅門城，王立制限，若施食於佛，輸五百金錢，佛到其國，皆閉門不應。佛空鉢而出。時一家有一老母，持破瓦器盛臭瀋澱出門棄之，見佛世尊空鉢而來，見佛相好，思如此神人，應食天廚。今降身行乞，必慈愍一切故。白佛欲設供而不能得，今此弊食佛須者取之。佛知其心，信敬清淨，伸手持鉢受其施食。因記是老女施食於佛故，十五劫中於天上人間受福快樂，後得男子身出家學道，作辟支佛。」萬善同歸集六曰：「貧女獻瀋澱而位登支佛，童子進士麨而福受輪王。」
